epic.TEN - F12011 Fun Tournament

F1 2011Always very popular at our LAN events, we've decided to keep F1 2011 in the fun tournament lineup. We did consider moving to F1 2012, but quite a few of our participants decided not to buy the latest sequel, so we'll stick with an old favourite to hopefully get more people taking part!

Exact format will be discussed over the next few days, so let us know how you'd like it to run.

And watch out for Elsie in your mirrors, he likes to use you as a brake!

epic.TEN - UT2004 Fun Tournament

UT2004 TournamentSo as we approach the final weeks before epic.TEN, it's time start letting you know about the big games and fun tournaments taking place at the first major LAN party of 2013.

First up, it's a return of an old epic.LAN favourite, with our fun FPS tournament, UT2004. We run with a nice simple format for this one, everyone joins the server (or 2 servers if there's enough demand) and we run short deathmatch stages. Every stage, we kick a few players until we're left with our last man (or woman) standing to be crowned as the winner.

epic.TEN - Seating Lockdown Soon

epic.TEN SeatingThe seating picker for epic.TEN will be locked down from 6pm Friday 8th February, from this point onwards, only new bookings will be able to select a seat, existing bookings will be locked in.

We do this to allow us to 'defrag' the seating plan and only put down the number of chairs and tables we need for the event as there is a cost to running empty rows, it also makes it more crowded for you if we have unnecessary rows taking up space.

If there are any urgent moves required after the lockdown, please contact us. We will only move people if we have to, but to ensure that you don't get broken up from your team/friends, please ensure that you all have the same clan tag set on your account.

We'd also suggest that you don't print out your booking (required for checkin) until just before the event in case you are moved.

Casual Gaming Space

A large group of gamers from the Portland and Pendeen rooms have recently nabbed one of our community rooms for epic.TEN, which means there is now space available in those rooms, we know some of you were hoping to attend if space became available, so now's your chance!

There are 14 spaces available in the casual gaming rooms now for epic.TEN so go ahead and book yours now!

Cancellation Deadline Passed

The deadline for requesting any new epic.TEN refunds has now passed as the event is a mere 28 days away. Refunds on any cancellations beyond this point will only be available if the event is fully sold out and tickets can be re-sold to the waiting list.

While this may seem harsh, the reason behind it is simply that all of our major expenses for the event have to be paid out by one month before too. So once we've paid the huge costs for things like the venue, the ticket money is no longer available to refund.

So on that note, let's begin the final countdown to epic.TEN!

KustomPCs at epic.TEN

KustomWe're please to confirm the return of KustomPCs to epic.TEN next month. The UK LAN favourites, will be attending the event, bringing along the usual selection of peripherals for you to try out as well as an unhealthy amount of sugar and caffeine.

Look out for plenty of fun activities going on around the Kustom stand too, which will be located in the 'Gallery' room of the event. Keep checking the forums closer to the time for the usual list of goodies you can buy and pre-ordering arrangements.

epic.TEN - Minecraft Create

Minecraft CreateAs promised, we're going to be holding our first fun Minecraft competition at epic.TEN, so we bring you Minecraft Create.

The idea is quite simple, during the opening ceremony we will announce a theme, you then go away in groups of up to 4 players to create the most exicting design along that given theme. The deadline for completing your designs is 9am on the Monday morning, so you can work on your creations at any time during the event.  We'll then judge them using the criteria of damage, style, control and agg... no wait, wrong tournament. They will be judged on wow factor, style, functionality and originality by our 'expert' panel.

You'll be playing on our local server with pre-prepared plots, so we'll need an idea of how many of you will be taking part.  Naturally if you're found using any cheats/exploits, you'll be dealt with by Jailor Duncey.

No promises of any prizes for this one, it's just for fun!

If you want to take part, you can register your interest now on the tournament site.

epic.TEN - COD4 First Trigger

epic.TEN COD4 TriggerSo now Christmas has passed, the competitive community is getting organised and we've seen our COD4 tournament pass its first prize trigger guaranteeing the first £750 towards the prize pool.

With teams and mixes now being finalised, we're well on the way to the next prize already.

Check out the thread on Tek-9 to find out more.

epic.TEN - Big Games & Fun Tournaments

epic.TEN TimetableIt's that time where we start looking at all the games to put in our big games timetable and to select 2-3 to run as fun tournaments throughout the weekend. We aim to put on 4-5 big games per day and announce that timetable in advance so people can make sure they have the games installed and updated ready to play.

So we're looking for your ideas for games that support at least 16+ players, preferably with LAN modes rather than online play where everyone can just pile in the server for a few hours of fun fragging.

With smaller RTS type games, these still get played, but we don't timetable them in as they are for smaller numbers of players and there's plenty of time in between the other big games (that's why we only put on 4-5 games per day to give you plenty of time to do your own thing too). Similarly, the non-PC games such as cards, werewolves, board games, we don't put those on the timetable as they're all things organised by the participants rather than us.

Intel TUP Area at epic.TEN

IntelTUPWe are extremely pleased to confirm that our friends at Intel will be returning to providing our Turn Up & Play (TUP) area for epic.TEN allowing a limited number teams from all over the world to take part in the event.

So if you want to attend, but can't get your PC to the event, then now you have no excuses.

Oh, and make sure you give IntelUK a like on Facebook as a thanks for their support.

The TUP area will be located in the Competitive Hall (Fair Isle), and as this is a Turn Up & Play arrangement rather than rental, all PCs must stay in that allocated area and the PCs may be required for a number of teams depending on scheduling arrangements.
