epic.HUNT Returns!

epic.HUNT ReturnsAfter a decent rest, we're excited to announce that the epic.HUNT will return for epic.ELEVEN as part of our increasing programme of casual gaming activities.

We've also handed over the reins to some new evil geniuses to run the hunt, puzzle hunt regulars and epic.LAN participants, CantFitMyN. We've already been taking a look at some of their question ideas and we know you're going to be impressed.

For those who haven't taken part in one of these before, it's a cryptic game that takes place throughout the physical event and online world where a series of questions and tasks leads you through to the end of the challenge. It is meant to be a mentally tough challenge that will require a wide range of skills, it isn't meant to be a quiz! It will be created to run over 2 days of the event, but we'll be working with the CantFitMyN team to get a good balance between challenging, while giving you plenty of time to take part in everything else going on at the event too.

More details will follow closer to the time, but for now, if you want to take part, make sure you have your epic.ELEVEN tickets and save £10 if you book before 31st March.

Do You Even Lift?Following on from our expansion into our new venue and having run our first event at Kettering Conference Centre now, we've realised that to keep bringing you some awesome LAN weekends, we're going to need a bigger team!

Staffing a LAN is very hard work, there's no avoiding the fact that it's a tiring weekend, but seeing all of the hard work pay off, and everybody enjoying themselves is extremely rewarding. Everyone at epic.LAN is a volunteer, right up to the management team, so we're all staffing the events because we enjoy it.

epic.TEN Fun Tournament and Quiz Round Up

pubquiz winnersSo another event has passed us by but its been none stop with fun tournaments for our social gamers. epic.TEN saw fun tournaments in Just Dance on the consoles, F1 2011, UT2K4 and minecraft create. Plenty of people got involved with these to provide some great entertainment over the weekend.

We also had the pub quiz which had a record number of participants this event. We saw some regular teams returning to defend their quiz titles and go all out for winning and some new teams who fancied their chances. In the top few teams it was quite a closely contended quiz with just three teams in the end who were seperated by only one or two points. The winners this event were Streamgasm closely follwed by Can'tfitmyn and Rebel Scum. Full Pub Quiz scores and results will be posted shortly after the event.

CS:GO Grand Final Recap

Though the two teams present in the Global Offensive grand final were in fact the top two seeds of the tournament, this didn't always look as if it was going to be the case. The second seed, mix team fish123, made their way through the upper bracket dropping only a single map, to the third seed TeamCRG, the team that put Infused in the lower bracket final. Infused had a tough run to make it all the way, finishing second in their group meant that they faced fourth seed TLR in the first round of elimination, a match that took all three maps to determine a winner. After dropping to CRG, they defeated the Lynx once again, this time 2-0, and found themselves yet again against TeamCRG. This time they had their revenge and took the win 2-1 seeing the progress to face fish123.

CoD4 Grand Final Recap

After a long weekend of Call of Duty, in the end, just two teams remained to duke it out for the title of epic.TEN CoD4 champions.

Coming from the upper bracket was the second seeded mix team of Phantasmagoria, a team comprised of numerous players with an ever growing history within the Call of Duty scene. Entering as the opposition from the lower bracket was imGaming, the tournament's first seed, and it was originally Phantasmagoria who put them there.

Those here at the event in the competitive gaming hall may have just heard the explosive end to the semi-final game between the tournament's top two seeds, Infused.Tt and TeamCRG. The series spanned all three maps, with the first going 16-7 in TeamCRG's favour and the next 16-8 to Infused.Tt. The third map looked to be going much the same way with CRG ahead 15-8 and looking to secure their final round to take the win and enter the upper bracket final.

CS:GO Round 1 Recap

The first round of the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive elimination bracket began late last night, with the final game coming to a close just a few minutes ago. As expected the four seeded teams progressed in to the elimination phase though most of them were greeted with a non-seeded team to play in the first round. This was not the case for the Infused or London Lynx team, who found themselves head to head due to the triumphs of TLR during the group stage.
