There was an article doing the rounds on the internet last week saying that LAN gaming is dying. It amused me at the time as we had a fairly good feeling that epic.FOURTEEN was well ahead of our previous record of 359 and we can now officially say that, having gone past that number, epic.FOURTEEN is our biggest LAN yet.

And it's not just us, LAN gaming is still increasing in popularity in the UK and beyond. It's not just about playing games on a network any more (which was the point being made in the article with the usual 'who needs a LAN with good internet' stories), it's about the whole experience, social atmosphere, competitive scene and everything else that attracts people to spend a weekend with like-minded gamers and friends. Long may that continue.

On that note though, there's only 37 tickets left, and no more seats will be opened on the seating plan at this point, so that's our absolute limit. We're not going to magically release more seats after claiming we've sold out. So if you want to be there, you really do need to book your tickets quickly, before they all go!

Want to know what is going on at epic.FOURTEEN and a way to see what all your chums are playing?! Well now you can!

We have an Event Steam Group which has reminders for all the big games throughout the weekend so you'll never miss a beat! Not only that but we have a nifty little tool that allows you to link your Steam account to your epic.LAN account. This means that when you join a game it will be displayed on our big screen and intranet. You will be able to see what everyone is playing and what the popular LAN games are.

One thing that epic.LAN has always been proud of is its caster lineups! To kick start epic.FOURTEEN we are pleased to introduce a fantastic team of casters some of whom you will recognise and some new comers to the scene! 

Tom "Gumpster" Gumbleton epic.LAN eSports Manager explained;

"I feel that we have built a rather good casting line up with naturally talented experienced casters a long with some rather unique up & coming casters in their respective scenes.

With the addition of having the usual two casters for some games we have three casters to help aide our casting team throughout the event with breaks and give the audience a natural blend of variety and stability. Hopefully these guys can entertain the audience as much as they have entertained me over the last few weeks"

Looking for somewhere to sleep at epic.FOURTEEN in a real bed and don't want the hassle of getting a taxi every night? Don't forget we have around 60 on-site dormitory beds available to book alongside your ticket for just £70 for the weekend.

Dormitories need to be booked by Friday 13th February at the latest. To add a dormitory to your existing booking, select your epic.FOURTEEN booking and go to 'add services'.

We also have limited indoor floor space for sleeping available, but it is on a first-come-first-served basis, note that adding it to your booking doesn't guarantee space on the day, it's just to give us an idea for numbers.

As of 4.00pm, we're now at the 4 week point prior to epic.FOURTEEN, which means that the cancellation deadline has now gone. As explained in our cancellation policy, within 28 days of the event, we're unable to process any more cancellations unless the event entirely sells out and we are then able to resell your ticket. This deadline is because at this point we have to pay all of the bills out to our suppliers such as the venue based on our expected numbers.

Besides, why would you want to cancel anyway, it's going to be epic! CU @ epic14!

While eSports is growing massively worldwide, our casual community remains extremely important to us here at epic.LAN too and we work really hard to try to keep a good balance for both communities so that no matter how seriously you take your gaming, you all enjoy the event.

So with that in mind, we're pleased to announce that Razer will be exclusively supporting ALL of our epic.FOURTEEN fun tournaments! Our winners will take away Blackwidow keyboards and runners up receiving Goliathus soft mouse mats.

We're going old-school at epic.FOURTEEN!

After lots of attempts, we've finally been able to get our hands on the much-anticipated Retron 5 to use at epic.FOURTEEN to add to our casual gaming activities. This awesome console allows you to relive your NES, SNES, Mega Drive, and Game Boy childhood experiences as well as many more console classics.

We'll be gathering up a load of old controllers and games as well as putting on some fun tournaments on some classic games, but feel free to bring along more games to enjoy over the weekend.

epic.FOURTEEN is already on track to be our biggest event yet, and with 3 major events in 2015, it's looking like another really exciting year for epic.LAN!

We're looking for people to volunteer in the following areas and to be a part of some awesome events:

• Event Team - Part of our general team responsible for helping all the participants and running our casual game programme.
• Front of House Team - Our newest team, dedicated to looking after our main helpdesk and shop. Even if you're only able to help on this team during the day and want to keep the evenings to LAN, then let us know.
• Content Team - As the events grow, more people want to hear about what's going on. Whether you have a knack for written content, video editing or production, let us know.
• eSports Team - Our growing eSports programme means we're looking for admin experts in our key games such as Dota2, SC2, CSGO, Hearthstone and LoL as well as people looking to build their live-event casting experience.
